I have a 96 xlt and I've been thinking about sunroofs.. I don't have alot of money so I resort to pulling parts from junkyards. From what I've seen the explorers share tons of parts with the rangers.Would a sun roof from an explorer fit in a ranger? I'd prefer a manual one over electric. I assume the sun roof has kind of a top and bottom half so you cut the hole in the roof and headliner and place the unit in the hole for the most part right?

the square body explorer sunroofs are like that i think. they have a round knob crank to open close them. get into the 95+ ones and they are power and require grafting the explorer sheet metal roof onto the ranger.

Pretty sure you can get a shop to install an aftermarket sun roof for like 2-300 bux.

Thats what I was afraid of, I have very little body work experience, If I repainted the roof the rest wouldn't look right haha

what? the unit i put in my truck costs $350, and that doesn't include the labor to install. the shop i work for is a dealer of sunroofs. i paid costs for mine. it'll be more like $500-1000 depending on which unit you get.

you may be able to get a low end manual pop up one for less, but i wouldn't go with just a pop up.
