Default Leaking from roof "gutters"

Just ran into a problem - my headliner is getting wet...thought it was the windshield and had it tested - nope. So, the theory now is that there must be a hole in the "gutter" area on top of the roof. There is old putty that is cracking in there which seems to indicate that the previous owner tried to stop it.

Anyone deal with this type of leak? Suggestions on how to seal it? I will be pulling out the cracked putty and cleaning up the area, must be a way to effectively seal it.

thanks in advance, dave

I have some what the same problem. My floor board gets all wet from rain. I can't seem to figure out where the rain is coming in. I've (my dad and I) have caulked with silicone along the roof edge, the front windshield, and any other place we think it may be coming in. I thought maybe the plastic what ever you call them in the doors where the windows go down may be cracked. But that doesn't explain how the water gets into the floor board. We've taken it a couple places and they can't seem to figure it out. Anybody out there have any idea?

Okay, so how in the world would the water get to the floor board under the steering wheel area?

You might have to take the dash apart and check the seem that is there. Water will rust it away and your floor boards will get wet. It is a common problem on gen 1 and gen 2 rangers for sure.
