i had the same problem so i just took the spare tire carrier off. which i'm glad i did because if something would have happen and i needed the spare tire i would have never got it off on the side of the road and i found out that the dang wheel i messed up. i guess if you have a welder and you know how to use it you could fab something up too.

my spare sits up against the hitch. i just lowered it and then put it back so that it wasnt on top of the hitch but next to it...no issues buti rotate it so that the pressure isnt always on one part of the tire

I know this is an old thread, but did the bolt pattern on that hitch work without drilling into the frame? I saw that hitch at Wal-Mart and wasn't sure. It says on the box it's an easy install, but what "easy" is to me may not be the same as "easy" to the maker, lol.

Yea it worked fine, no drilling the only thing that sucks about this is it blocks the spare tire carrier so it mean you cant use it,

That's kinda lame. Good to know though..... guess I could always move the spare if I really needed that tow bar instead of the other kind. I don't have the tool that lowers my spare anyway..... whoever owned the truck before me kept it.
