I know what you are talking about. I noticed that on my passenger side the other day. Been wondering how to fix it myself.

Yeah I was thinking just wire brush it away than weatherstip sealing and using spray undercoating.

Its a common problem, you would spend more money repairing the door than just getting one at a junkyard and painting it

Doubt it man a door is going to cost me 50 to. 75 bucks. And the paint for my truck is 24 bucks a can. . And ill prob need two cans plus a clear coat that's 70 bucks just for paint. Not including the sand paper acetone and wiring. So ill take my chances repairing it with some handy man work.

----------

And after I do all that and it happens to that door? Than wat

well, the best way to fix the rust is to cut out all the rusted metal, replace with new, weld it up, do the body work, prime and paint. if the rust is bad enough, you'll probably end up with a fully door skin. and at that point, you should have just gotten a new door and a lot less labor.

the reason they rust is water runs down inside the door from the outside window. from there, there are drain holes in the bottom of the door. if they are plugged up, then the water sits in there. so once you have good, clean doors again, make sure the drains are clear, then find a product like por15 or similar to seal the inside of the door. should help prevent the rust from coming back.

It isn't that bad.. very little rust and not enough to get a whole new door.

I know why it happenes. Thanx for the lesson though. Good info. Most common other than that is the seals in the door aren't fresh and are brittle so water leaks to the bottom seals and sits to cause rust. Door drains are a thing of the past and more than likly aren't the cause.
