Unhappy Undercoating troubles.

So i got some diamond steel already shaped and everything for bed rail cause the last owner had plastic ones that he silicone glued on....(dick)... So when taking them off they broke. so i decided to go tough and do this... But i want them black and rust proof... so i decided to use under coating... was this a good idea, ? Or should i of went a different way? they looks fine just drying time is very long... and im wondering are they going to be water proof or? im not sure.

I dont see why you would have a problem, I mean undercoat is supposed to go under your truck to protect from road salt, water, etc.

I would have used a spray on bedliner in a rattle can- might be a little harder and scratch resistant.

Undercoat isn't going to hold up long.

It may hold up, but you can also try a spray on bed liner, that might hold up better

Undercoating will hold up if u put on 2 or more coats, make sure is 60 or so outside so that it can set up, and give it time to sit and cure or dry between coats, but it dosent stay dark black, for long trust me i did it on my headache rack.

Yeah i only tested on the back tailgate rail.. so i just took it off and used some awesome paint from Menards... Its some sweet stuff man better than krylon fusion. I put it on some plastic just to see and it turned out wicked.

i would have went with a 5 or 6 dollar can of spray on bed liner from Napa, just did my rocker panels with that stuff, the texture isn't grainy, and its still tough.
