Default New light bar idea.

What do you guys think of a light bar/ cage similar to these on a ranger

It would probably mount like the F150 one, in similar porportions anyways but have a top bar more similar to the tacomas if possible. The one on the titan looks kinda wierd.

Isnt it sexy! It kinda says I offroad, but Im classy.. lol

That F150 kindof, loosely, has the look im going for. I wont have a top light bar or crazy paint, but I want a light bar like that and I plan on building a kid plate to run behind the bumper like alot of people have done.

----------

Ill photoshop something up soon and maybe take some measurements and model something in CAD. I wish there was a CAD model of a ranger somewhere I could obtain... the possibilities....

Here it is roughly photoshopped onto a ranger. I think it looks dashing. I am not sure how to mount it solidly, any ideas. I guess I could run the bottom tube back to a bolt on mount on the frame horns and the top tube can just bolt onto the metal valence

I think it would depend entirely on the overall look vs use of the vehicle. If it is gonna be a mall crawler, go subtle, like a smaller bar coming off of the bumper that holds a pair of lights, or three. But if it is gonna be used for any kind of significant wheeling, and you being in vegas, that would be more prerunnerish, I would go that route. My opinion, for what it is worth, would be to mount the lights directly to the bumper, or a small easy to fab bracket. Keeps costs down and does the job without looking like too much of a wanna be prerunner.

The photoshop looks good, Im not sure about the size though. 1" tube would work, but you are only gonna have like 28~30 inches to work with total, less it you dont want to cut/drill on the visible part of your bumper.

I will cut and drill all day. Im building a mild set-up for mild desert trails, fireroads, etc. You wont see me hucking this truck or building a flow blown bumper and big ass fenders with a no suspension. Im aiming for about 10" of travel in the front and 12-14" of travel in the rear with a mild set up of bilstein's, 2.5" lift, control arms (all of which is on its way) and some sport trac springs with flipped hangers and removed overload mounted with bilstein 5150's out back. It will be as functional as it looks. mild - that is why I want to put the light cage but keep the bumper. It will be mounted strategically so it actually provides a litte bit of a protection to the truck in slow collision- not just a flimsy mount like many aftermarkets are. Itll be a fun DD- mild offroad truck.

nah, dont like it. I like something that would go out further toward the ends of the bumper, but in the center like that is not appealing to me.

The one from fabtech is like that and looks like cheap poo. I feel like if it goes wider than the center bit of the bumper, you might as well fab a whole bumper w/ skid. Idk I think I like it and if the measurements allow it, Im gonna go for it.
