Default Mudflaps

I have the factory molded type mudflaps on my truck (2000 Ranger XLT 4x4), and they dont catch all the dirt. It sneaks out from the front set and ends up under the doors and on the rear fender flares. I want to put different ones on or add to the current ones . . .anything to fix it. The rear flaps are ok, anything that gets by them misses the bumper . . . but ill probably do it to front and rear to match. I was thinking of just taking off the current ones and replacing them with the regular rubber type ones you can get at any auto parts store or bolting this kind overtop of the current ones. Suggestions?

yea if you find some standard replacement one just unscrew the stock ones and put the new ones on a little bit out and up or out and down more.
should work fine.

Yeah, i can reuse the holes from the factory ones and add one more so its a little stronger mount. Just wondered if anyone had a better idea. Also, there will be a little indent in the flare where the factory molded flap butted up against it.

I would say 95% of the people on here will ask you why you want to keep them in the first place, so I will be the devil's advocate and ask. So why do you want to keep them? Most of us take them off as one of the first changes to our truck.

There are a few people that actually like having them. I am one of them and apparently the poster is too. Personally, I would rather have the mudflaps and keep off the snow/ salt of the rockers in the winter. I really don't care what they look like, on my truck I don't think that they look really bad.

some states youre required to have mudflaps to cover like 2/3 of the tires. but thats not a problem even without the mudflaps on rangers
