Default How did you hook up your off road lights?

I currently have piaa's which have a led switch that you have to hook up to a power source before the lights turn on. So i was wondering where people put their switch and where they plugged it in to(ex. parking lights,headlights..). Post a picture if possible

i ran a sep switch for my kc lights. but thats cuz they are the 130 watt lights and totally illegal to run on the road. that little with you need to add to the switch i cant remember off hand but i know if you go onto kc's web site itll show you how to hook them up. im pretty sure its the same thing. lights are usually lights and hook up similarly

my hella lights came with a harness, switch, & relay. the Hella's are wired to a switch, but just like the Factory 2001 Ranger fog lights, they can only be activated when the parking lights are on. soooo, if I forget to switch the hella's off, the rangers main headlight switch will also turn the hella's off

Just to make sure we're on the same page, your switch is powering a relay under the hood, which turns the lights on/off with a larger wire from the battery, right?

If so... The parking light circuit is ideal for this. It will keep you from accidentally leaving them on. When you park the truck and shut the headlights off, the off road lights turn off even if you forget to turn the switch off. You can use one of those little blade tap-in things to tap into the brown wire behind the headlight switch. You should put a 2-3 amp fast acting inline fuse on the wire to your switch.

yes the switch it powering a relay hooked to the battery. I have t tap connectors and a inline fuse. I just want to make sure i tap into the right wire. I'll give it a try later and get back.

Cool, that will do it for ya then. You have a fuse for the primary power coming from the battery to the relay too, right? 15 amp for two 55 watt lights. 20 amp for two 100 watt lights. 25 amp for two 130 watt lights.
