I have a base model 2004 Ranger XLT. I mean it's a BASE MODEL, no bells and whistles at all. No power windows, power locks, etc. I'd like to put foglights in the precut holes in the bumper, which are currently filled by a plastic place holder. I saw that all I have to do is remove the place holder, screw in the foglamps, and connect the already installed wire harness.

My question is this: Since I'm adding these foglamps aftermarket, how will they be turned on? I know that they'll have power from the prewired wire harness, but how will they be activated? Will I have to install a switch? If so, how do I go about doing this? Has anybody done this already?

U can make it factory by getting a radio bezel with the foglight switch and then add the fuse and relay
You will then need to run a wire from switch to relay and fuse that is all you may be missing from having foglights

Fuse #8 (10A) in the dash puse panel
Fuse #4 (20A) in the underhood Battery Junction Box.

Just an FYI, there is a prewired switch for the lights behind the dash. It clips to the back of the radio bezel for the fogs, however, my truck - which is an 04, the front end was not, wired at all for fog lights.

I ended up buying the oem lights and installing them myself complete with a harness and switch.

Also, the factory fogs, 'clip on' in a very mickey mouse type fashion....

Some trucks come prewired at the bumper some come prewired at the dash
