Default That gol durned bonus wiper swipe

Didn't know the appropriate term, but is there a way to cancel it?

Its only been a winter, and my window already shows damage (fine lines) from the dry wipes.

And no, there is no way that its my fault because i always refill the fluid container

Thanks

Ford is pretty proud of their patented "courtesy swipe" as it's officially called.

That's not what's causing scratches. Blades that are worn down or damaged to the point where metal can contact the glass or being in an environment that exposes you truck to gritty dust is more likely to cause scratches. The stock windshield isn't susceptible to scratches so do you have a replacement or an aftermarket tinted film?

When you use the windshield cleaner button on a 2000+ (?) Ford vehicle you get that delayed swipe that catches any drips of solvent.

The truck isn't even a year old yet.

It has 11500kms.

I can assure you, the blades are like new.

The extra wipe is what is causing dirt to be dragged onto the dried up surface, after the regular wipes used up the washer fluid, causing the scratches.

Well then that's not very courteous at all.

These are scratches NOT stubborn smearing?

Don't i wish.

Maybe there's a way to buff them out or something, think i heard abotu something like that.

But no matter what i do, as long as there's that extra wipe, especially during our crappy winters, chances are it'll cause more damage.

spray more. spray a lot. so the courtesy wipe is lubricated.
but i agree. i hate it too. maybe a ford dealer can disable it using the ids?

Tried that, but unfortunately the blades do a very good job, so on the highway its always problematic during winter.

I need to go to the dealership on monday, i'll ask them about the ids.

My friend just got a new fully loaded Edge. The rediculous computer lets you turn that feature on and off. I kid you not, the dash LCD display says "Courtesy Wipe On/Off".

can i see pics of these so called scratches?

my courtesy swipe does this all the time especially since i killl bugs on the freeway but alll it takes is window cleaner and its clean again. so a scratch seems excessive......

and when the weather was colder i used the wipers when the window was iced over no issues w scratching lol
