They adopted the federal standard by which manufacturers are regulated. Normally as an end-use, you are only governed by state motor vehicle law. And most state motor vehicle laws are very broad and don't impose the same restrictions imposed on manufacturers. However, some states including Oregon have adopted those standards as their state law. Basically, you can do anything that isn't a normal OEM replacement or certified equivalent.

Let's see those PICs!
7000k are almost purple!
Just FYI ...

HID light kit for Mustangs and Rangers cost under $80
They are 35w , but if you run 5000k , they are VERY bright!
I have them on my truck ,and I will NEVER go back to reg bulbs again, even at 100w
(which by the way are usually off-road only)

Who said silverstars lasted longer?

There's a reason they only offer one year coverage.

Personally, best lights i ever bought were streetglows (i think they were 30-35$), lasted me for years. Then i gave the car back, they were still going strong.

Bah, i did the test and the 7000k were lighting up bright white, no sign of purple or blue.

The package might say 7000k, but it was a little on the optimist side let's say. Nothing to do with HID temperatures.

It's for HID bulbs. But what makes no sense is... how can a color temperature be two different colors. The bulbs all have their color temps spec'd at 35 watts (presumably). Using 55 watt ballasts changes the arc in the bulb so the color temp will change. What that chart shows is what a bulb labeled as 6000k will actually look like.

The 35 watt column is what the color temp should actually look like. Take anything these cheesy headlight bulb companies say with a grain of salt. They're all pretty much Chinese made junk with no QC.
