Default Reverse Light Switch

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know how I can install the reverse light switch? The rep at the auto store said it goes under the gear shift but I don't see where.

The reverse switch should be combined with the NSS if I recall correctly. On my 03, it's the half circular black thing. My 1980 F100 has one in the same spot. I imagine y'all have it there as well. FYI, you should be able to adjust the switch, which may help your problem. Mazdaman, you should definitely try adjusting it, as your lights work when the selector is in the "sweet spot", which could indicate it's out of adjustment.

  • M5ODR1 manual - Reverse Lamps Switch screws into the left side of the top cover of the transmission.
  • 94-down automatic - part of the Park/Neutral Safety Switch
  • 95-up automatic - part of the Transmission Range Sensor

I would first make sure that it is not something in the bulbs, wiring or fuse 26. If all of those check OK and the shift cable adjustment is good, then the Transmission Range Sensor probably needs replacement. The reverse switch section of the TRS is not available as a separate part.
