Default Fiber Glass Repair

Is there a way to fix some chipped fiber glass on the back right quarter panel near the top of the bed without having to take it to an auto body shop or replacing the entire quarter panel? Already thought about touch up paint, but can't get the stuff in the same color as my truck.

If only that would work! The idiot before me tried to spackle it and did a horrific job. (That's why you never see pics of my truck from this side!) I thought it would be a relatively easy temporary fix with some sanding down and touch up paint, but no go since I can't get it in this color and now I'm not even sure how to sand fiber glass without making it worse.

Sounds like a plan, but with the size of the damage (more has chipped off just in the last two weeks I've had it) will touch up paint just make it look worse? How do I sand it without chipping more off?

I know how to sand down a regular car with regular paint, but I've never had fiber glass before. And I'm not trying to be stupid, but how do I sand it without chipping more of the fiber glass off? Or are you saying sand the whole top edge?

Yeah, but I'd have to go almost 8 inches off the side to cover this up with that. Pretty much to the very top of where your's says Edge. Wouldn't that look wierd?

^^^i'd do the same thing. but if you must. sand all the spackle out of the wound. then add a fiberglass resin to seal more from cracking out. after that sand the glass resin smooth. add a fiber reinforced body filler to level out to the original body line. then the repair will need primer and paint. to really do a good job paint use automotive paint. and scuff the original side 2-3 feet away from the repair, then it is a matter of painting and sanding and clear coating to blend to the original paint.

Yes, it's that stupid small part that I would have to also cover or repair.
