Default Projector retrofit

So... im looking to mod my very first set of projector headlights, but there some question i need answers before i start ordering the parts in lol

I know most people get their kit from TRS, when it comes to the wiring harness, do i get the 9006 harness?

I have seen people paint the housing of their headlights, does it require special type of rattle cans? Or just any u can pick off the shelf? Does it have to be high heat type? i mean the lights will give off heat
Do i have to sand the chrome surface before i spray paint it?

Also do most people use 35w or 55w?

You need the 9007 harness, not the 9006. And I would think some high temperature paint would be needed. I didn't paint mine.

Well the first gen rangers used sealed beams. But since like 1989 it has been 9007.

I used my old ballasts that I had for my old plug-n-play HID's. Those were 55 watt ballasts. So I just used those on the projector HID's to save money rather than buying new ones.

35 watt is more than enough. I wouldn't bother with 55. Money and heat that isn't gaining you anything useful. In fact the added foreground light just makes it worse sometimes.

Are 55w brighter than 35?
I only want to do this to make things brighter lol

Yes, but not by much. And that additional light ends up reflecting off the road in front of you back into your eyes, reducing how far you can see. It's really not worth it. "Brighter" is not as simple as it sounds.

I used 35 watt
Krylon spray paint for plastic. It hasn't chipped, flaked, or any visual damage. No sanding, just cleaned the chrome thuroughly

I have them. Don't get them. The reason I got them is because I scored them for 70 bucks with bulbs. And got free used ballasts from a friend. Do a retro fit

I still plan on doing one eventually, just not #1 on my list. If you're gunna get projectors, retrofit.
