Default Securing Tool Box To Ranger?

I was wondering how do you guys and gals secure your tool boxes to the bed rails on your Ford Rangers?

On my 08, I just used the supplied holes and got some J bolts and bolted them in. Idk how different they are from year to year on rangers. Bolts went down through toolbox and hooked on to truck bed.

X2. Tractor Supply has them just dont tighten too tight or you will bend the lip of the bed. and whatever you do, dont drill holes into bed

x2 on the not tightening them too tight. Did that but luckily only bent toolbox and not bed.

Here's some specially made clamps just for this. There's many different types of these out there, and you should be able to find these or something similar at any truck supply store.

You should also put some kind of bed rail pad between the box and the bed to keep it from scratching. Can be bought cheap at auto store.

I used two J hooks, but I also used two bolts where the existing holes in my step side were. I have antennas and lights on my toolbox, and since both ground to the toolbox I needed to have metal to metal contact some how. Plus I feel much more comfortable having the thing bolted on.

X2 on the padding!
You would be shocked at how much an object (toolbox) that you think doesn't move, actually does. And they can make some really ugly scratches that then lead to rust.
