Alright guys those that know your stuff chime in, Im going to start painting the truck (pratice on the Nissan first of course) I have done a little bit and I have done airbrushing. What are some good guns for spraying primer, base, and clear. Post up your links and why you like them.

dnt use the same gun to shoot primer as u do base n clear, buy a cheap gun for primer but with a 2.0 or larger tip (primer is high build/thick)

base coat, I use Iwata LPH400 1.4 tip.. great gun but not cheap... round $450

clear I use SATA NR2000 1.3 tip amazing gun (usually what you see people using on tv) I paid $585. 10 yrs ago


as far as chemicals I use ONly BASF products, (very user friendly, but not cheap) I use R-M Diamont base coats, only R-M clears 5100 or 5300, and Glasurit primer 285-61

I agree, you should use a separate gun for primer. Harbor Freight guns will work fine for that.
For what it's worth, I painted semis for almost 30 years and the last spray gun I bought and used (and loved) was the Devilbiss GTI with several different tips.
The 1.3 is recommended for what your doing. Only requires 25-30 lbs but any HVLP will require a high CFM. Your portable 3 horse compressor is not going to work for painting an entire vehicle. My 5 hp 60 gallon 2 stage won't keep up for an entire vehicle.
For me, the GTI felt and sprayed like my JGA, that was my favorite spray gun for 20 years.
You can pick up a GTI for about $300 and it will do a good job just like the Sata.

Even for something as small as the rangers? What size would you look at getting I have 5hp 60gal at the house cant think of anybody that I know that has a larger one of hand
