I got a bit of an issue. I have a 2 1/4 ton floor jack and stands. I have been trying to jack up my truck to do some work. I cant raise it high enough to even get the tires off the ground. Anyone have tips for cribbing or blocking to use under a jack? I'm not even sure a bigger floor jack can raise it high enough. Are there other jack points any of you guru's could suggest?

I have to put my jack under the arm with maybe a block and do one side at a time to get my Nissan up when it was on 33s now I just hook the engine hoist up to the bumper with it on 35s.

My jack maxes out and the tire still isnt off the ground lol

wow Im gunna have to say bigger floor jack then man unless you have a bottle jack laying around. I would say make a cradle for it out of wood but thats a little riskey.

Two, 4"x4" blocks that are a few inches longer than the jack. Put the blocks underneath the jack. Put the jack under the truck and lift away.

Yeah....I'm kinda stumped

I tried cribbing like that but as you know with floor jacks with wheels, you start pumping it rolls forward as it goes up. so unless I build a massive block under my truck I'm not sure what else to do

My '86 F250 is lifted 12 inches and I use a harbor freight 3.5 ton jack and it works perfect. Might want to think of upgrading, my man

Should tell you on their website. Just a suggestion tho, go with the little more expensive aluminum racing jack ($20 more) because my steel ones dangerous as hell (POS)

If your jack has a removable head or pad, pic up an extra one and weld a steel 4 or 6 inch block of steel to the jack head, then if it rolls while jacking, it is not going to come off since is welded to the head/pad. keep the stock headd for reg. cars/trucks. the head is generally held on with a cotter pin


Or get one of those air bag jacks

I've been using a base under my jack and haven't had problems with it moving once I get some weight on it but like you I think it's a good idea to upgrade to a better jack.
