Default Plastic on light cover hard to remove

Ok,

I recently ordered some headlights from Ebay (ugh). The lights were great!!! But, I have one problem....

You know that thin plastic film (similar to siran wrap) that companies use to protect the lens from scratching during shipping? Well...normally it will just peel right off.....but I'm having trouble peeling that plastic film off of these new lights. Its almost like it is "clung" so good to the lens it doesnt want to come off...and if it does come off, it comes off in little bits.

I don't want to take a plastic scraper to the lens for fear of streaking the lens, and I don't want to ship them back to the seller.

Is there an easier way to take that "siran wrap" off??? I thought about using "Oops" or a similar product but I read somewhere that it could actually melt the plastic lens.

Any suggestions? Does anyone here have personal experience with that? I really don't want to damage these lights taking that crap off.

Thanks!

Jeff

is the film clear? if it was, maybe it wasn't supposed to be removed.

I wld use razor blade and some prep-solvent, or something that will destroy the chemical make-up of the glue, but not eat the lense..
just give it a good waxing before install

try using a hair-dryer to heat it just a bit to loosen glue? idk that may make it worse lol.

Could not get a good picture of it. You can't really see where I got some of it off b/c its all clear. No glue...its static cling wrap stuff. And I'm afraid to use a blade on it. I used something similar a long time ago on some and it put scratches and crap all down it where I was cleaning it like an idiot.

Yes, its clear. And its obvious that it is supposed to be removed b/c of the overhang on the edges...I guess. LOL Like i said...I've bought a few headlights in the last few years..and all of them had that protective plastic on top of the actual lens.

Haha! yea, I dont think that would help. There is no glue on it...its just a cling wrap.

I suppose it probably "baked on" a bit by sitting in some warehouse in California for a month.

Screw it. It seems to be "baked on"....unless I'm just a total idiot. Half of it came off very easily. The same problem can happen with Plexiglas.

Anyways, Ill just contact the seller and gripe.

Thanks all!
