Winter weight
What are you guys using for winter weight? With my plow hanging off the front it takes quite a bit of weight off the rear. I am thinking some where between 4-500 lbs right at the back of the bed.
Now, here is my problem. My bed is sprung and i need a ratchet binder from one side to the other to hold the sides in so the gate will latch. The gate will still sometimes pop open, so i dont want to put any weight against it.
Any ideas on a weight that i can somehow secure to the rear of my truck but make it easy enough to take out when the plow is not on.

Re: Winter weight
Have you tried tube sand? You can get that weight with about 6 tubes and you can put them in between the wheel wells and I don't think they'll slide

Re: Winter weight
Ya the tub sand will work it doesn't slid that much.
You could always build a box to put them in that fits between the wheel wells

Re: Winter weight
See. i need weight all the way in the back, not over the tires.
I was thinking about making a box made of 2x4s to hold a bunch of cap blocks, then have 2 2x4s running up against the front of my bed. But i think the box would be a PITA to store when not in the truck. Wish our rangers had dividers to lock in a 2x4

Re: Winter weight
You can always purchase some of these. Total weight in mine is 335. They defiantly will not move. I got them at lowes 4 years ago. 83 lbs a piece

Re: Winter weight
I use the tube sand just like others are talking about. I also keep the sand in the very back of the bed like you want. In order to keep it in place i just took a piece of wood I had in the shop and prop it up against the back of the wheel wells and it stays in place and the sand stays in place up against the tailgate just fine.

Re: Winter weight
get a bed extender and just tie some junk to it. you'll probably use the bed extender later on in life anyhow.

Re: Winter weight
I would go with the tube sand.......if someone was to hit you the blocks would go through your backwindow..........
