Default Rusty Bed Bar

OK, so i have a chrome or stainless bed bar that I just noticed is COVERED in rust.
I am wondering what is best way to clean and seal to prevent future rusting, or if I should just go back to the line-x idea.

Is it like a 3 piece design where it bolts together? or is it all 1 piece?

More than likely, its the bolts that are rusting and its just running down onto your bars. My friend is having the same issue with his roll bar on his '79 silverado. He's been working on getting the rust off but I don't remember what he's been using. I can text him later and let you know

I am told there is a sanding procedure(also read thread on here i cant seem to find) that will clean it up. But i believe this one has been sanded. Think there must be some kind of sealer.

You can try NEVRDULL, Its a wadding polish and removes rust. I used to use that when I detailed and it worked really well on chromed out bikes. You just have to really work on it but it should do the trick. You can buy a can of it at Walmart for around 5-6.00

Yep, its doubtful that the bar you have is stainless if it is completely covered in rust, some sort of chrome plated steel is more likely.

I know you can take rust off of a chrome bumper with some coke cola and a wadded up piece of aluminum foil.
