Default Can you paint the exhaust pipe?

This is a newbie question...and sorry if it's been asked before, but a quick search here didn't turn up anything.

Instead of buying one of those chrome caps for my exhaust, is it possible to paint (either chrome or black) the exhaust pipe. Probably paint it to the muffler.

Is this possible? If so, what kind of paint would work best?

Cool. Ill probably just paint it a flat black then.

Can I spray up inside the tailpipe just a tad with it and it not screw up anything?

high temp paint will last for a while, I would remove the visible section have it powder coated. shouldn't cost no more than $15-$20 plus the cost of having it welded back on
