I found out what dimensions are needed for a stepside toolbox 54" across the rails and 42" inside the bed.

I would Like a Low profile Tool box and would prefer black.

However Im trying to figure out a couple things I cant seem to find A deeper version of the Box that is still low profile and The Black version is like $75 more and Im trying to figure out how I can justify 75 bucks to have Black box

How does paint hold up on the polished aluminum boxes?

Im gonna go check with the local Line-x dealer to see how much they want for the UWS box

You can try Tractor supply, Harbor freight... They have ok prices

You can paint polished aluminum. A good metal primer is going to be a must.

Keep in mind, the black box is the same as the aluminum with the extra time and cost of a powder coating. They all start with polished aluminum diamond sheet and get welded into the various box sizes.

There are a lot more options out there for boxes for full size trucks and trucks with fleet side beds. There are less flare/steps than fleet and less Rangers than F-Series.

Boxes are almost always designed to have space between the box and the bed. What good is an 8 foot bed if your tool box prevents you from loading 8 foot pieces of drywall or board? That's probably part of the reason where their isn't much available that's deeper.

I bought mine off amazon it was a UWS box but not low profile it was 280.00

I have a 2004 Super Cab with a stepside bed

the 11 3/4" dimension looks like it can go as deep as 14" I know 2 1/4" inches dont sound like much but it can make all the difference when stuffing stuff in it

Will a regular bed tool box for a ranger fit in a stepside?

There seem a lot of variations in bed dimensions.

My 94 Splash stepside has a Pendaliner and the internal dimensions are 39", to the tops of the side is 51" - just to complicate things the handrails sprout just 12.5" from the cab back end, so any box has to fit within those constraints - I haven't found one so far...

I may have to consider an "in-bed" box which will probably be cheaper (since I only want it as a "trunk")
