I can't get the grill it at all.....any help.

Pictures show to put two screw drivers in but I can't even get one in and it's small....

arg has to be an easier way to get this out.

Edit: finally got the damn thing off... what a major pain in the ass...

Mines all faded in spots so it looks like I'm painting it black...

Painting everything now... doing the last coat of clear on the grill then will take pictures tomorrow. Went with dupli-color black, with two light coats of adheasion promotor first, then about 5-6 light coats of black, and about 3-4 coats of clear, also lightly.

So far looks perfect!

Wish I would have taken a before picture, it was SO faded that the stock grey was turning yellow and all discolored... now it looks awesome!

for those of you using this method and struggling to remove the grille from the surround...i had excellent results using the heat from a hair dryer.

softens it up just enough so it pops out...no tools required (well thats not completely true lol i did have to use a very small screwdriver in two places )

i broke my grille this winter..sub zero temps..that old plastic gets brittle. i bought a grille of eBay (black surround. dark gray grille) needs to be a black a grille. found this thread helped a lot and i was concerned that i my snap the tabs...everyone seemed to be having an issue...heat is the trick!

thank you and good luck!! RR

I swapped the grille on my Focus, and the "bolts" were pressed metal one time only fittings- thin stampings that screwed on biting into the plastic. Managed to get one off fine and broke the shaft to get the other off. Couldn't re-use the one I got off fine, so I used some thick Super Glue to hold my front medallion onto the grille. Worked fine, and stayed put for 3-4 years (until the car went to the junkyard).
