I had this awhile ago on my passenger door only.. Sprayed some WD40 in the slot, slid the key in and out a few times.. Sprayed some more and put it in and twisted it a bunch... Fixed it and haven't had any problems since.
Got a '99 also

WD-40 essentially is a cleaner not a lasting lubricant. you can buy lithium grease in aerosol can, I have use it on very moving part on my vehicles. everything works nicely, will help prolong moving parts, lock cylinders, wear on keys, door bushings, and so on..

That is awesome, I've been having trouble with mine on the 01', but I figured it was just a bad key or something because it only does it every once in a while. Thanks!

Here is the issue I'm having w/my '03 XLT.

I took the key off the remote. I put the key in the lock and nothing happened. It was the equivalent to putting in the wrong, it went in but wouldn't turn. I've always had just the one key and remote, so I know it's not a case of having the wrong key.

Forgive my ignorance, but is it normal for the key to just start the vehicle and not unlock it?

I will try spraying WD40 in the lock this evening to see that does anything.

Thanks for anything you can provide.

Lord oh mighty, of ALL the things to NEVER put in a lock is grease! This, unless you like it attracting dirt and thus the lock getting sticky, or the grease it self becomes sticky resulting in the same problem. Same deal with oil, never!

Instead, and if you want to use the correct lubricant, you will want to buy some graphite based lube. Lock ease seems to be the most common brand. Here's the link to the common and correct product, although you can get it in a bottle instead of aerosol. It can also be found in auto stores Lowes (or the like).

sometimes if i try using my remote fob to lock the doors then try the key to unlock them it will not turn. usually if i just jiggle the key in the cylinder a few times it'll work without any issues.

I have a 99 and have this problem too, should I have two keys? one ignition, one for the doors? or are my locks just jammed up?

I freed the locks on my 99 with wd40. Sprayed some in the lock and then worked the key back and forth a few times
