Default Silverstar Ultra?

Wondering if anybody has tried the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs and what they think of them. I'm looking for very bright and white high/low beams. If you have suggestions of other comparable brands ect. feel free to post. Wondering what everyone thinks...
Thanks

how much are you gonna pay for them? i bet not much less than an HID swap. i would go HID, its gonna be waaaaaay brighter i bet. i had those on my civic last year, they were definitely noticably brighter than stock tho.

i only need bulbs so it is gonna run me about 45-50. And I looked at DDM's HIDs and they are like 40 with shipping so it really is about look/quality for me...

A timely post as I was reading about them this morning. From what I read they only last about a year or less.

My dad runs the normal silverstars in the astro van, they are a HUGE inmprovement over regular headlights. He's had his 2 or 3 years now and my grandma has 4-5. Haven't burned out yet. My Uncle runs them in his F-150, 350, and both his and his wife's motorcycles and swears by them. As for the HID kit, they may not be 50 state legal, silverstars are, if that matters to you. I've never been an HID fan so, i'd go for the silverstars

Google HID and LED problems/issues. Lots to read. I get in my truck I want to be sure that my lights not only work well but are reliable..and won't fry wiring. I used 2 sets of Silverstars in about 7 years...both times replaced both after one burnt out..as recommended. But this year when one burnt out I decided to give GE Nighthawks a try. Little to choose from regarding the 2 brands brightness wise..maybe the GE's are a little better. No legality issues since they are not annoying bright or blueish..why invite that is beyond rational thinking. Might as well throw in a hand held cell phone in both hands and text into Facebook 'What are you doing now?...I'm doing nothing' with toes on a netbook at the same time.

FWIW: Any lights that are white or blue suck donkey nuts at dawn and dusk... it has to be PITCH BLACK out for them to light up well. They do light up decently when its completely dark, but if there is a small shred of light at all they suck.

Interesting that you are getting good life from them. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not to try a set.

Sylvania's web site rates them at 150 hours which doesn't seem very long. Note: I didn't see the Ultra listed in the chart.
