Default Blackouts

Okay, so where I live I can have blackout tail lights and headlights. I was wondering where is the best place to buy them?

Alright, I wonder if Advance Auto has the blackouts? Most places just has the smoked ones.

How do they allow them?

They limit the light output.

They are illegal in all 50 states

I don't know, my friend had them on during the day and night. He's never been pulled over. So, I decided I might as well.

That is true. But, I know during the day you can have them. I guess I'll take them off when it's night time.

I see them all the time during the day. Maybe those are smoked... All I know is I can't see the headlights all I see is black. I saw them on a red Silverado, black Camaro, black Tacoma, and a black Cobra Mustang. I'm pretty sure the smoked ones are like a greyish see thru color.

You should look and see if they are stamped. DOT or SAE if neither is on there. They are 100% illegal

Don't get them... they hinder other people's ability to see your vehicle at night, lights that are tinted to the max are hard to see and are hazardous.

Ignorance of the law does not make it legal.

I bet they are illegal because of how much they limit the light output.

I have nearly rear ended some people with those because I couldn't see their lights because they put those stupid covers on them.

Not only are they most likely illegal but they are dangerous and IMO they don't look good.

Well, they are still legal... For off-road use only.

Exhibit A of why they're illegal and dumb.

True, but I believe it's: "Ignorance of the law does not excuse you from it." Which means, tlogan91, is that when Mr. Officer pulls you over you're still going to get a ticket even if you tell him you didn't know.

Exhibit B of why they're illegal and dumb.

Sorry, we know you were looking for answers and not a bunch of whinning.. But honestly, they are just so ungodly stupid (to each his own and all, it's just my opinion).

I say it's probably best to just leave that crap to the high school kids.

Save your money for gas or real mods.

i had some blackouts on my 94 ranger. I think the only reason I was never ticketed was because at night, I used my highbeams which made the light output brighter and the blackouts kept oncoming drivers from being blinded. However,i did have to use a set of drivng lights so i could actually see the road. what scares me is people who drive at night, on a dark road, with no streetlights, with just blackouts and no fog or driving lights.
