Default Roof Racks

I want to know where you got your roof rack, what kind you got and how hard was it to mount it. I'm looking at one for my truck. So let me know what you have so I can make a decision for mine!

Just do it, Richard! More room for beer and dead hookers.

Lol I am doing one on the truck, its a bad idea to put dead hookers where they can be seen though lol beer, well that I can get away with.

As for the rest of you...sport trac would work, and I know powerranger put an 05 exploder in his. So that is where I have been looking.

Are you looking to put one on the cab or canopy? Personally, I'd do the canopy like I did bc honestly, it looks stronger than the top of the cab.lol

although since Ty did it... I have been thinking about it.

I'm not sure either way honestly lol I want to see who has what and what I like best. The roof would probably be a better idea, that way I had it even if I took the canopy off.

i have a rack off a 99ish explorer i believe. but im not 100% sure because they just happened to have it sitting in the front office of the junkyard.
it won't be hard to find one off any explorer. any year explorer up till 01 or w/e they stopped making that body style will work.

i used self tappers that go through the thin roof skin to the structural support metal under the roof. held great. then i siliconed all around the screws underneath and on top. drilled a smaller pilot hole if you will then used the bigger self tapper.

the hardest part really was mocking it up and getting it right where ya want it then you need to mark your holes and drill.

also the cool part i found out, you can drille AND drive your screw in with the headliner still attached and it does no damage. only time i pulled mine down was to silicone underneath the hole.

hope this helps!

oh almost forgot, its not too hard, but you need to trim the rack down too. then drill new holes for your screws since you cut the old mounting points off. if i recall i cut mine down to around 53" but i don't remember 100%. i can go measure for ya if you need.

Thanks man, the measurements wouldn't hurt, but I'm sure I can figure it out. And if I'm taking the headliner out I'm doing a few other modifications at the same time lol

haha sweet that'll make it that much easier then

just make sure oyu leave the rack long enough to reach the structural supports on the roof.

the width of the rack is perfect for them as well.

almost like it was meant to be!

Well that's just how we like to make em! I can pull the headliner to run my cb wires, and I was thinking marker lights too.
