Default What's the best bed cover?

I used to have a fiberglass cover for my old ranger. I enjoy having the bed covered, but having a hard cover is a pain sometimes. I have a couple questions about covers:

1. What's the best (non-one-piece) cover?

2. Do all covers scratch the paint? It seems like the rails on the bed sides always rub.

3. Thoughts on vinyl covers? They seem convenient but when I helped my friend wash his Tacoma (with a vinyl bed cover) it seemed to collect a lot of dirt.

What kind of budget do you have? Can get a metal roll-up tonneau, which is what I was first going to go with on my first Ranger.

Thats wat I have i think its made by Top Lock, It is metal covered in black vynil. It rolls up into a storage box at the front of the bed.. It has the support rails on the side. I love it cuz it does wat its supposed too, and it is more than easy to get out of the way for hauling stuff..

My budget is around $400 (but preferably less). Ohhh those are really nice! What do they go for used? It looks like they are around $550 new.

Can I use it with a rack?

I had/still have it in storage..(see my last 3 pics).. a Extang vinyl cover, it's the model that has j-channel (not snaps) n quick release section in the rear, so easy to take off and re-attach, this top will not damage anything on your truck. I think the price was $225 on ebay.. they have a great warranty, and if years later you need new vinyl section its only $100

My personal opinion is to go with the Roll N Lock. Its a hard cover that will not scratch. It has 3 locking positions so you can close it fully, have 2/3's covered, 1/3 covered, or completely open. Instead of it lifting, it rolls back into a small storage box in your bed next to the cab. When it is fully closed, you can lock it for superior security. They come in 2 ways: manually retractable (M-Series) and electronically retractable (E-Series) The M-Series is a little over your budget, but im telling you right now, it will be the only bed cover you ever put on your truck.

(the E-series is a waste of money. Its cool, but not worth it)

I've had an M-Series one since the day I got my ranger, and my dad has had the same M-series one on his 2007 tundra since he first got it.

Here's the link so you can take a look at it yourself: http://www.rollnlock.com/

Trifold.

I can put mine on or take it off by my self in less than a min.

And I only paid 169.99 off eBay for it.
