Default Spray painting tail lights?

Has anyone ever spray painted their tail lights with intentions of partially blacking them out? I got some flat black spray paint and was just wondering if anyone else has ever done it, and how it turned out. Thanks for any replys.

Don't try spray paint. Most auto parts stores carry taillight tint spray for this. I think it is around $12 at O'reilleys.

No - but I've taken my tail lights apart so I can spray the part behind the clear lens to match the body paint of the truck.

Alright. Would spray paint make it not transparent enough for the lights or what?

It would more than likely make it way too dark.

DO NOT use regular spray paint if you're going to do this. Use a lens paint, such as VHT Nightshades (Which is what i used on mine). I got a can at AutoZone for around 10 bucks. Remove your tail lights and set them in a covered area where no dust or anything can get on them. Spray them in lines, and make sure you dont hold the can too close to the lights. Start off doing them lightly shaded, bc when they dry they tend to get darker. Try them and see how you like them, and if you want them darker you can always go back and spray them more. I was really happy the way mine turned out.

I did it on my truck, the actual spray paint makes it way to dark. Use the light tint that auto zone or oreilly sells! looks sick! =D

Alright, I invested in some nightshade from o'rilley. It was $12, and if you ask me it was well worth it. Heres a before and after of my buddies lights we did, mine look about the same. Has anyone ever done headlights too?

i would suggest trying window tint first, in case you dont like it for some reason, the window tint peels right off w no problem but once your painted theres no going back... theres a how-to on it in the mods section.
