Default How to Remove Plastic Bed Rail Protectors?

Need some help / info.

On the process to Remove the Black Plastic Bed Rail Protectors off of the Bed Rails of my 2010 Ranger (Without damaging my paint). I believe there double sided taped on from the factory.

And any ideas on the removal of the Glue Residue left over on my trucks paint from the tape, after removal of the Black Plastic Bed Rail Protectors .

Reason for removal is I got my Ranger booked for Over the Rail LINE-X treatment this Monday.

I've looked, and I know it's here on the site somewhere (seen it some time ago though) but no luck in finding it yet.

Thanks for any and all advice ya got.

if you are getting over the rail i am pretty sure line-x scuffs up the rails for better adhesion IIRC, so you shouldn't have to worry about residue too much. but you can always use goo gone and a razor.

Your right, Line-X did say they were going to scuff my paint first for prep. But for what ever reason they requested I get rid of the glue residue first (all I can think of is, just maybe it gums up thier sand paper to fast for them????).

Right on, I have some Goo Gone allready, Thanks. Me and a razor near paint lolol. Not a good idea lol.

Any Idea on removal? I was thinking maybe Hair Dryer for the first try, then Heat Gun for the second try (if the first doesn't work out) . To warm up the glue prior to removal.

Thanks.

well the razor on the glue after you heat it up, i mean that area is going to be covered by line-x anyways right?? but yea hair dryer and/or heat gun will definitely help in the process of removal.

Ya it will be for sure. I think I'll go with a plastic scraper though. I gotta be real careful with the heat gun around paint though. It is cold weather here now though.

My son is looking for a Ranger (reg. cab, 2x4, 2.3L). So when he finds one it will go in it, unless it allredy has a bedliner / tailgate / bed rail protector. What ever is left all or some of it will be for sale. Plus I have my 2010 FX4 runnig boards that will be for sale to (7,000km on them).
