Default Cool Rack Build

Think I may consider this....
http://www.4wheelnoffroad.com/04cargo.html

Curious if it would make my truck look too busy.

It might make it look too busy. My question is, why do you need the rack when you have the whole bed of your truck to use?

Well the bed will be holding my spare soon which doesnt leave much room should we go camping and what not.
Actually found this while looking at diy tire carriers..
LOL, check this out -
http://www.yotatech.com/f116/pickup-...nt-diy-179495/

Cool idea but I would just weld the frame up instead of having the movement..

Just a thought, why not mount the tire on the roof of the cab or on the hood and save the bed for other stuff? The bed tire mount looks good but wastes a perfectly good bed in my opinion.

Well once you add the bead bar the thing is good for groceries and its basically a big trunk, so spare tire carrier isnt big deal. Also it adds weight to rear and shows off my nice new spare rim.
I would consider it on roof but in a roof rack with the mount. Just concerned bout looks. Also a 33 inch tire is pretty big to be pullin down.
I would also be concerned about the weight if it gathers snow and ice in winter.

Never seen one on hood that loooked half decent.

Roof rack-yes
Tire carrier-no

I know a guy who has a 97 Z71 ext. cab. He has a 6 in. lift, 38's, and a winch a brushguard. He put a roof rack on it and it looked amazing. I say go for it.

Yeah, not only does the Sportage ruin it, but the hose-clamp attachment method isn't that classy, either.

Of course, I can't even weld, so what do I know?

That looks like a cool project if you've got the time, and I think it would look good on your truck. From the detail involved, it looks like the hours you'll put into it will most likely out-weigh the cost of a roof rack. If it's what you need to keep yourself busy, then I'd say go for it.
