Hi everyone! Still kind of new, mostly troll around.

I was involved in a hit and run the other day. A guy came into my lane and dented up my front passenger side quarter panel.




There's the damage.

Like an idiot I apparently didn't add uninsured motorist to my policy. So here are my options.

pay my $500 deductible and get it fixed under collision on my policy.

Or see what I can do without using my insurance.


Ideas?

I'm terrified of ill fitting body panels.
A place to get OEM panels relatively cheap?

Odds of finding an 08 quarter panel at the salvage yard?

1- first off, did you get his information? if so sue his ass in small claims court for the damage and the deductible and any reasonable hardship that may be work related (getting to work)

2- panels from 98-up fit, its a direct swap.

3- Do not pay any deductible, get it done yourself, its easy/cheap and easier on the wallet, takes about 20-30 mins max

Thanks for the info. 98+ fit?? Is there a difference from XL/XLT and let's say an FX4 with those snazzy fender flare things stuck on the wheel well?

Am I correct in assuming that Ford's "black" has been the same so by getting a panel from an 02 or whatever year the color will "match" aside from any possible sun damage or anything?

I suppose I should of used an exclamation point after my initial comment to indicate my surprise from the 98 and up response.

My Ford dealer told me the last time I got a service that the fender flares from the FX4/sport would not install on my fenders so I just assumed they were different.

My question about the color was more of me thinking out loud than anything.



By the way, my woman surely doesn't. I do whatever I want and she usually makes fun of me when I do something stupid that she probably should of validated.

if it was up to me i would talk to the person you bought it from at the dealership and ask him how much they would charge to just get a new one painted and installed. And i would then ask if there was any chance they could just paint a fender you provide. ready for paint. I don't know if you could manage that one but it's worth a shot. I know i could do it but i work at a dealer so i got some buddies.

The only reason i say to have it painted is the fact that you drive a 08 and you're probably gonna have that truck for many more years and if the paint just doesn't match just right, it'll bug you. i know it'd bug me. hopefully it'll all work out.
