Default Where to buy a rear window seal

I took my headliner out yesterday to get a better look at where the water is leaking in from. It has to be the rear window seal because I've exhausted every other option. Where should I look to buy one? Its a solid window if that makes a difference.

if you knew where exactly it was leaking in, you could use silicone to seal it up

I agree, but by design, you can't really see the part where the seal actually touches both the window and the cab. Its tough to explain, but I can take pics if needed. On another note, since my headliner is out, I am going to look for fabric to reupholster it.

Just go to an auto wrecker and take one off another ranger. I've done that numerous amounts of times switching out sliders to solids. But if your not sure where it's actually leaking from you should get someone to take a hose to it while your inside to figure out the exact spot.

those should be bolted in. there are products out there that look like a rope, but are seals. pull the window out, put new seal on, reinstall window.

Good idea with the hose

It does look bolted in, I think this will be the route I go.

I found a 54x50 piece of synthetic suede for 17 bux. Looks like I'll be doing this very soon. I think I will get that spray paint for fabric to do the visors.

be careful with the glue on the suede...suede has a tendency to let the glue bleed through.

what you need to re-seal the window is called butyl tape and it can be purchased from local autobody supply stores or autoglass shops. it comes in a roll and is round but comes in different diameters. you will need 5/16" diameter for your window.

also, check out this how to for tips on re-sealing the window.

i figured it wasn't. if it's really thin to the touch, it's going to bleed real easy. i have ran into issues with this in the past. there are thicker suedes out now, but they are pricey. i love using the suedeliner that yourautotrim sells. it's got a foam backing just like oem headliner, and you don't have to worry about bleed through.

I put the butyl tape on last weekend. All seemed to be good, but tonight I noticed a little water was still leaking. I tightened the nuts around the window down pretty tight, but not as tight as possible. They seem a bit small and I would hate to break one. I cleaned ALL of the old tape off, and applied the new seal outside of the bolts. I did everything right as far as I can tell. What now?

I should also mention that the outer seal doesn't seem to be sitting flush with the cab. I tapped it with a rubber mallet which helped a bit, but it could get closer.

did you run the seal around the outside of the bolts or the inside? also if its been cold where you are it might help to take a heat gun and run it around the mounting surface on the inside of the window to allow the tape to settle in. snug the bolts down as you go but not too tight.
