Well here's hoping that I can get some pics tomorrow before it leaves off to have the mount fabbed. I will get the pics up when I get it back but may be after x-mas. I posted up a thread to see if anyone was interested in a mount. So far, yawn. . . It's was cool to find out that the only difference between a vehicle sold with a plow and ones not is simply the one with has a extra warranty. no mods, no extra safety, no up rating, just a little old gap policy to cover the jarring the truck takes?!? Well hopefully I'll have as good of luck as all the others out there. And hell I kind of excited this might be an excuse to get some rediculous tires!

Al right, it was nowhere near Right Meow!, but here's a teaser.

Enjoy.

http://flic.kr/p/97eDs4
I'll post the final pics when I pick it up. So far Timbrens, Air Dam cutting and trying to figure out a good way to counter weight.

P.S. Anyone know why I cannot get my pic to insert from Flickr?

I just did almost identical plow set up but on my 04. But i used the SUV 6'6" blade which is 148lbs lighter than the standard 6'6" plow
here is the link to my thread Snow plow questions
I am looking at getting #1 torsion bars and the timbrens

I would look into a heavier duty clutch for the fan, or go straight to a fixed fan. I installed a flex fan on mine. I had overheating issues with mine prior. Also you might consider air shocks on the front, that would help with the sagging alot.

Looks Great. I read through your thread before, researching the wiring. I wasn't familiar they had a model for SUV's that was metal. The uni-mount was recommended to me by a guy who has had many a Rangers plowed. Is there some place to learn about the different avail. torsion bars and how does one know which he has? Your brace is slightly different than mine from what I see but I am none the wiser to one looks like normally.?. From what I can see in the pics the guy sent to my phone, it should be indestructable. Oh geez I'm getting all emotional here
This is my Xmas gift to myself! Mount unfinished pic below!

Hmm really good points! Thanks I will look into them. I figured I would learn as needed. I hope there won't be any issues with over heating. It has the tow package so cooling should be up to par. But atleast I now know to keep an eye on it. I am looking into suspension mods to compensate for the weight, I am waiting to see how much bounce and sag it has when mounted.

I will be picking it up tomorrow. The mount was sent in to be industrial coated? (stuff they use on Municipal plows.) Everything was fitted and tested today, the last thing that was to be done today was to get some kind of stand thing that was missing and straighten the little part that it used to be on. Apparently if you hook up the plow and drive away with out raising it this part gets damaged? I know what it does just not what it's called, never seen it ut the guy doin the work explained, when I asked why a piece of angle iron was ever so neatly bent/twisted. . .

You might want to think about maybe a pillar pod water temp gauge. The factory temp gauge is so inaccurate. Factory gauge setting in the middle shows out to 190* on my temp gauge on the pod. When the gauge shows 220* the factory temp is just at 3/4. Thats to hot for my likeing. Just imagine when the factory temp finally shows "hot" what the actual temp might be... 250-275-300...???

You mention having a towing package on that, you might also consider a bigger tranny cooler. On my expedition it has a tow package and came from the factory with an external trans cooler in front of the radiator.

If you start to get warm on the temp just drop your plow down, maybe an inch or so off the ground, the plow just blocks the air from coming in that will help if you get in a spot.

WOW 02'4.04x4. your guy went all out. Why didnt he use the old plow frame? There was very little that needed modifications. And mine(western) is adjustable. Your is not. If you raise the truck(even 1") that frame will greatly hinder your plows performance

What did he charge you to make that?

To find out what torsion bars you have look at your door jamb sticker. Under springs you will have a 4 didgit code. Mine is BBCC

Well He's been in the Biz for 30 years. I told him what I was looking for in it and asked whether it was better to go one way or another, this was his recommendation as per my criteria. Adjustable, hmm hadn't thought about that aspect. But seeings how I am looking make it a plow capable rig I will probably shy away from that for a little bit. But if I decide in the future to do it I am pretty sure I know a guy who can make me what I need. . . lol! Then I would just offer this one up to some lucky FRF'r I am eager to see it all done up tomorrow. He cleaned all the cut edges and weld lines up before it went to get coated. Thanks for the heads up on the torsion bar info I'll check tomorrow when I pick it up!

Oh yea, there wasn't an old mount only bought the plow side. I asked him about buying the old mount we agreed not to. From your reaction I would say that he did a purdy good job on doing this one up right.

Hey guys, and ideas on how to counter weight the truck? I am thinking of using some 45lb plates I have for some of my equipment and placing them behind the wheel wells in the bed. Any thoughts? I believe I have 7 of them So should be just over 300#'s

P.S. she rides a little light in the A$$ still need to check on the torsion bars. Has anyone noticed issues with overheating or Voltmeter drop? I have not, but the Fabber said that it was common for this to happen on the little trucks. I am wondering if the older trucks which if I remember correctly had 95A Alt's were the ones with issues as I believe my year has a 130A Alt. . . . . Also any recommendations for upgrading the fan assembly and is there a lower rate thermostat avail. for these puppies? Alot I know. Thanks

Here the Door sticker I am not recognizing a code like yours Mr. Diesel?

Here's some pics of it on the truck.

You have #1 torsion bars and K rear springs.

As for the alt and fan. I just used my plow all day and did quite a bit of highway driving too. No issues w charging or running warm

Are these good or are there better rated ones(heavier duty)?

Oh what what's the deal with Keys? It seems there are keys you can buy that can make your truck sit a little higher, would this be too much stress on the bars? y/n, why? Sorry New to trucks.

#1 torsion bars are the highest rate bars

Skip the keys. All they do is twist the torsion bar beyond a normal setting. You can get adjustment out of the bolt and save 200
