I have a 01 Ranger Edge Reg Cab which I dearly love, but I really HATE the color! It's white and I feel so institutional/industrial! (sorry white truck guys). I really wanted a red one but couldn't find one. Everyone keeps telling me I should not change the original color. I'm also told don't go to Maaco. Still it seems really silly to spend 5k on a paint job for a truck that is worth not much more than that.

I've considered maybe doing a two tone thing to get around having to paint door jambs, etc., but am not sure if that will satisfy my red truck fever.

Anyone change the color and have it come out decent without spending an arm and a leg? If so how?

its rustoelum enamel ... it lasts well over 4 years so far many many members there and its only about 35-60 dollars and a few hours of work believe me its worth the wait

Most of the Maaco type shops usually do a good job spraying paint but the body work is not good and the masking is sloppy. They also use cheap paint. You might ask them what they would charge if you prep the truck and supply the paint. Just take off all the easy stuff like emblems, mirrors, edge stickers, wipers, and lights.
