Default emblem disassembly?

hey guys i want to repaint the large Ford emblem on the back of my 91 ranger. I've seen some people that have disassembled them and repainted the inside. How do you do it? any help is appreciated. thanks in advance guys!

That's a good write up.

It should be noted that not all Ford ovals can be modded.

I've been doing the 2 piece ovals (like that article uses) for a while now.
I go a little further in my modding by removing the chrome Ford script & chrome oval ring using my super secret process and I paint the Ford script/oval as well.

Not sure what type of emblem your vehicle has, but since it's an older one like mine, it probably has the 2 piece ovals.

The newer ovals are basically a one piece unit that can't be taken apart, while some are a "gel filled" type that can be modded, but require a special epoxy to refill after painting/masking the insides.
I haven't tried to mod the "gel" type, mostly because the 2 piece ovals keep me pretty busy, but I haven't found an epoxy that remains perfectly clear once it cures.
