Default spare tire holder thing...

i took off my rear bumper and im gonna be driving around with it off, just cuz i like the way it looks. the only problem is the spare tire...well not the actual tire just that metal thing around it. is there a way to take it off and still be able to carry the spare tire around?

The crank that pulls the tire up sits on that metal plate.

Why not just have it sit in the bed? I've had mine back there for around a year without any problems.

The "metal thing" around the spare tire is part of your frame. It's a huge complicated crossmember that sorta HAS to be there unless you replace it with something else. It's riveted into place.

And honestly, from 2 rear endings, I don't wanna be without a bumper OR a frame-mounted hitch...

i had a problem with my spare too i bought my tube hidden hitch and my tire actually touches my hitch with some pressure i feel like when i finally do need the tire its gonna have a bump in it...i lower it to check every once in awhile and i feel like my only real option is to cut off an inch in the back but im not worried about the tire THAT MUCH!

----------

btw people that do carry a spare (for those that bigger than stock tires...) did you keep your stock spares or get the proper size spare? if you got bigger ones where did you put them? do they fit in the cavity? ive seen one person actually hang their huge tire against the cavity but not in it...didnt look good or safe
