Water leak possibly fixed
Ive had water leaking into my truck every time it rains ever since I got the truck. At first I thought it was the 3rd brake light, so I took it off and put a generous amount of RTV all around the seal. The leak continued so I put a length of duct tape across the top of the rear window seal on the outside. I made sure it was sealed nice and tight against the window and body. The leak continued. I started looking to find out any place where water could be coming in. I noticed that I have a couple very small cracks right at the top rear corners of the cab. If you look right near the black weather stripping you will see them. They are on both sides. Could this become a problem? If so, Ill get them welded up ASAP. Just thought about this, that could just be a paint crack, hopefully.....
Anyways I was thinking that water could have been leaking down that little section between the side and roof of the cab, so I added a bead of RTV on both sides of this as well, driver and passenger side. I hope this fixes the leak because I am selling my car soon and the truck will be my only vehicle.

Re: Water leak possibly fixed
if i remember right that part that you out the silicon around is bolted to the truck. the bolts are hidden by the headliner. you could pull them off and seal them that way if the silicon doesnt do the trick.

Re: Water leak possibly fixed
Thanks, I did not know that. If I do sell the car, the truck will be getting a lot of TLC.

Re: Water leak possibly fixed
I had this same problem and I tried silicon but i'm not too sure it worked there.
Here's the silicon I got my dad to do one day when I was away... came home to find this mess, he went a little ham on it and now I cant get it off!
Also to stop the leaks across the top of my back window I put tape across it.. looks like shit but it get's the job done.
Don't mean to hijack this thread but can anyone give me the name of a product to reseal the windows, I can't for the life of me remember what that shits called.

The product you need to reseal you window is called butyl tape. Its a black sticky tar like round tape that comes in a roll. You have to remove the window to do it but its a pretty simple job.

What about that gum-like shit that goes around the window what's that stuff called, I feel retarded but can't think of what its called. That stuff is what needs to be redone.
