Default Painting my ranger

Ok I was asked to put up some pics of when I painted my truck so here they are. Oh yeah have a lot of them.

Ok you wanted pictures so hes some pictures. lol

Truck started out White with an ugly green stripe down the side

Starting to sand the canopy

Taping off the inside of the canopy

Think its bright enough

sanding down dings and dents

some filler primer

going into the paint booth

laying down sealer

Damn its a bright truck now

Going back together

I cant seem to find any pics with the canopy on it anywhere. I washed the truck today and going to wax tomorrow so I will get some pics up tomorrow afternoon with the canopy on the truck.

Tis a thing of beauty sir!

How long did it take you to sand down the shell? What equipment did you use to paint? I am looking at doing my shell on my own, just looking for some tips.

Yeah I painted the door jams too. I didn't pay attention to my tape placement though so theres a couple of spots that the door panel doesn't cover that have white spots. Oh well though it still looks good.

I used an orbital sander with a foam pad and stickon sanding discs. I used 400 to bust through the clear and then used 600 for the final sanding. I filled in the Lear emblems that were in the rear corner of the shell with "frosting" Thats what my teacher called it. Its a ureathane filler material if I remember right. I will grab the tube after work and tell yeah the name of it. I used it to fill all the dings in the truck though.

Then I used a Sharpe Finex gun to spray the canopy with sealer and then paint. For a 100 dollar gun it works great and my teacher was inpressed with the spray pattern it put out. It was comparable to his really expensive guns that he has.

I will put up more pics of the canopy work soon as I get home today. Work internet blocks photobucket.

Thanks for the info! I think my shell was an Innovation so just stickers were on it (my shell is currently silver, but was red before and just painted over)
