Default NOOB HERE! Question about toolboxes.

Im pretty new to this whole thing but im learning slowly. I own a 2002 4wd 4.0 v6 XLT. I currently have a bed liner in the truck and im looking to find a tool box. Is it hard to get the toolbox in there with the liner? And does anyone know any good places to find a toolbox that fits?
Thanks in advanced, like I said, I'm really new to all this and im trying to learn as much as I can!

i assume you're talking about a factory bed liner. and if that's the fact, then it's easy. here's mine. if you got the stock bed rails on your truck still, it may be more difficult, but you can do it. It depends on which type of box you get. Mine came with 2 j bolts that you hooked under the rail on each side. but some you can drill straight into the side of the truck. And you can find toolboxes online or craigslist. It just depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. I had a style in mind (low profile and black diamondplate) and i found the one company that makes it and just bought it. spent way too much but oh well. But if you only wanna spend 50 bucks, craigslist is your friend. but most of the ones online would run you about 240-300 bucks if i'm not mistaken. post a picture of your truck so we can see what would look good on it.

Yeah, I bought one for 50 bucks off a buddy, it worked great, mine you drilled holes in the bed rail and bolted or used screws to hold it in. Worked great while I had it. Just determined I wanted a canopy so I got one as a graduation present. Most new are going to run you 250, and I've seen them up to 500. Some have trays, they make them for in the bed applications, low profile ones, and all different inside accessories, I looked at one with the extra fuel tank in it. Your bedliner shouldn't make a difference other then you want to drill holes through it too. I have seen a truck box held in with foam sealer too, but it didn't look that pretty.

just a little advice.. use some kind of foam padding under the toolbox if your liner doesnt cover the rails. the guy i bought my truck from didnt and you can see little diamond etchings all over the top of the bed

Have to agree with that point. I went to John Deere and got some rubber matting they use on their bailers I think it was from a tech I knew there, I just got an old piece they had that worked great. I have Line X on my GMC so it never bothered that truck

Pic Request: Plastic tool boxes

post 28 is mounted with bed rail caps, but yeah make sure you get some foam between the toolbox and the bed rail, Kobalt ones are decent from Lowes (I think brand new they are under $200) or look on craigslist. Some of the tool boxes you have to drill through the bed rails, some come with no drill hardware that mounts to your bed hook location...

Your liner rolls over the bed rail so I wouldn't worry too much about the foam (most boxes come with tho) Any box that is for small pick ups should work. If your not dead set on NEW check craigslist daily for a week or two. If you dont want to screw it down onto your truck (I wouldn't) then you can make your own "no drill" hardware.
