Ok for starers the truck is not "starting" as some of y'all seem to think its mearely turning with no gas or spark I present like it would ddo if you put a wrench on the crank pulley and that's because a 3000lb truck is going to have enough weight to move that little 4 cylinder. When its on a slope and if it can do that while the truck is in first gear it will be able to do it on any gear. Also my cable did that shortly before it snapped in half and taking it off is kind of a pain what your going to have to do is disconnect the very end of the cable from the brake itself and then slip a rwormgear clamp (those clamps that you find on hoses that you tighten with a screwdriver). Over the end of the cabl and tighten it around the stop holding the cable inside then once you have that your going to have to do that again under the truck then you should be able to take it all the way out

It isn't starting the engine. It's just turning it.

Ok, what I meant to say was if you are facing downhill with the truck in reverse...Why wouldnt it pop out of gear first? Instead of rolling forward in reverse? Either way... take a block or two with you.

my truck never rolls, and i leave it in gear all the time.

have you considered using some wheel chocks?

Mine does the same thing, I parked in the driveway to pick up my little bro and usually I just park it in gear, but I did that and it started to roll back anyway, so I put on the parking break and walked up to the house, by the time I made it to the door she had rolled into the street!
