Default darker headlights/tail lights

my cousin bought this spray from an autozone and sprayed them on his headlights and tail lights. it made them black. i liked the look in the day, but his headlights were useless at night then. is there any spray or other way to get this look without loosing my headlights?

or would i just have to buy aftermarket ones?

Anything you place on headlights will dim them.

Not only that, it's illegal in some places (it is here).

Only thing you can really do that wont kill the light output is the headlight mod.

Go to the how to section in the exterior section.

(If we're talking about the headlight mod where you take the headlight apart and paint inside)
No. You're only painting the areas outside the concave area that reflects the lights. It doesn't affect the light output at all.

If you're looking for a spray to use, there is this new spray from Rustoleum. It is kinda like a clear coat...it will smoke out your head/tail lights, but when you turn on your lights, its almost like theres nothing on them. They look really good day and night and won't make your lights completely useless at night

I've been thinking about doing this mod too, except i was gonna paint my lights the same color as my truck, but just haven't been motivated enough to get to work and gotta get permission to use the stove from the wife so hopefully i'll get it done soon, also does anyone know if the same thing can be done to the marker lights on the truck as well?

You could just get Smoked Headlight Covers, They look great during the day, and if need be you can take them off at night. Its a snap, literally. Just take them off if you ever go to a carwash with brushes they are easy to snap in them. I had them for mine till that happend. now im goin to get Headlights. You can just go to google, or any truck accessory site, and search Headlight Cover.. Smoked ones, by Wade, AVS (most common)
