Default Mud guard/flap question

I tore off one of my rear mud flaps this winter and now I want to replace it. I know I can go back with a factory flap but I am not that crazy about them. Does anyone have a line on a molded rubber/plastic guards that would fit a '96? A local auto shop tried to get some from Husky but they don't have or make them for that year any longer. Would something for a newer model work? Any ideas? Thanks.

I think youll be good with a newer model. If the beds have changed so much that a .....2005,6,7,8,9,10 mudflap wont fit on a '96, I haven't noticed. Ask to look at one for a new truck and line it up on your bed and see if it'll work.

Take them off if you don't care about the paint. if you do then i suggest ebay. It should have some.

dont get all but hurt. Mud flaps protect your paint and its courteous for the people behind you so they wont get a chip in there paint or window.

lol its not cute its called a little something like being a adult. i'm sure if i got in front of you throwing rocks at you i'm sure you wouldn't just sit back and giggle thinking its cool would you? i'm pretty sure you would be upset with a cute new chip in your hood or windshield. and i'm 100 percent sure it scratch's your paint. rocks go around my mud flaps and leave nice lil chips on my paint. I just did touch up paint on my rear fender the other day and my lower part of my door. It would make my truck look better i'm sure if i took them off. But i rather not throw rocks at people. Don't get me wrong a lot of people deserve it when they tail gate lol

I do get a kick out of you guys who live in Texas or California suggesting taking the mud flaps off as they don't look good! I am in a colder climate and much wetter. Here salt is still used with sand on the roads in winter. So, mud flaps here are a must unless you want the side of your vehicle and lips of the fenders sandblasted and chipped. I also agree with those who don't want to throw stones at vehicles behind. Mud flaps aren't an option here as they are required by law on the rear. Now, for those who need or want mud flaps...can someone suggest a quality product?

I too opted for the mud flaps (agreed, looks better without them, but they are a necessary evil here in this region / if ya wanna save your paint and avoid rust). Canadian winters are brutal. And lots of gravel roads here to. What I did was got stock Ford factory front mud flaps with brackets. Puchased them from Ranger101 here (thanks again), off the clasified ads. Others are probably available on request in the classified ads. As we know many many Ranger owners remove them. Nice clean install. I just had to do a dremel slot (as thick as the mud flap) through the bottom of the fender flare. Looks stock, just like the back stock factory installed mud flaps (rear fender flare is sloted from the factory). No drilling at all required, Nice! This was the best option I figured (to keep the stock Ford factory look) as the Rangers do not come stock from the Ford factory anymore with front mud flaps.
