Installed body lift - rear bumper question
OK - my sons and I installed a 3" PA body lift this weekend (before and afters to come). Quite a few head aches resulted in dealing with 14 year old parts and plenty of rust and corrosion. We did not put the rear bumper up so I would not use loss of use. My thoughts are to fill the gap with aluminum treadplate and maybe install rear lighting and an LED strip. Any thoughts? What have you done? Thanks.

Re: Installed body lift - rear bumper question
How much of a gap is there.
Should have come with some bumper brackets to raise it up

There is a 3" gap. The kit did come with the brackets. I was just concerned about losing the ability to use my bumper over having it become an ornament.

I'm not that crazy about having the rear bumper lower than the front. I'm just trying to solicit some alternative ideas.

whoa... let me stop you right there. If, by this, you mean losing the ability to add a ball to the bumper and use it to tow with -- well, it already is little more than an ornament. You really shouldn't think of using that for anything heavier than a small [preferably unloaded] utility trailer.

^ i'm with stupid.
get a hitch for towing.. using the bumper as a tow point is as worthless as tits on a boar.

I would just get the brackets and then buy a hitch. The hitch is easy to mod to not hang so low.
Will look like this if you dont mod it.
To mod all you gotta do is cut it.
Then lower the mounting point. weld and bolt the mounting point back on
I was still able to haul 3,000 pounds with the modified hitch

Point taken. I think I'll just raise the bumper and mod my hitch.
