Default Another Broken Rear Door Post

I have a 2004 Edge, and as I looked through forum after forum, google search after google search, and hundreds of pictures of parts, I can't seem to get a definitive answer, so my next step is to just cut it (somewhat out of frustration). My drivers side rear door releases at the top when I pull the handle, but not the bottom (I know, that's common). Both cables and cable ends are in remarkably good shape. Well, I've pulled the rubber plug on the door to attempt to push the tab at the top of the assembly to release the lock, I have removed all the panel stuff including seat belts. I have pried, lubricated, beat, banged, and shook it to hell with absolutely no sign of progress. I have looked for any place to remove the latch assembly and it seems that is only possible once the door is open. So, my question to you is, what can I do to get it open?!

P.S if you say "latch," "tab," "left" or "right," please be more descriptive. There are a lot of things on the latch assembly that could be described as a "tab" or "latch" and there are multiple angles to look at it from so left and right are relative.

Thank you, all, in advance!
