Default Fender/Door Rubber Insulator Pad

I discovered a rubber pad inside my inner fender skirt when I removed it. It's around 2 feet long, 3/4" thick, 4" at widest point, and looks like it mounts somehow inside where the fender and door meet. I peeked through the door opening on the other side of the truck, and I see that rubber pad as well. It's also just flopping around loose in there. Could someone please tell me where exactly this pad is supposed to be positioned? Thanks!

I ran into the same situation, could NOT for the life of me figure out how to stick it back in there. I believe I tossed it in the trash. Must be sound proofing.

Many times those over the years the foam shrinks and the cells collapse, especially in warm climates and they deteriorate. Some times you can wedge them near the bottom as they have a scalloped tear drop shape and they are a form of sound and water resistance between the fenders and the door jam.

Sorry to badger you so much about that must be an illusion. Anyway I meant to ask what did you do for disconnecting and reconnecting the door checks? Is it pinned too or do you just unbolt them?
