Arrow Question regarding camper shell

Hello all,

I have been thinking about buying a camper shell to put on my truck. I went to look at one, the one in question is a Leer brand shell. How rigid and/or sturdy is the top supposed to be? I had my hand placed on the top of the shell and leaned in to look at something towards the center and the top pushed in. Keep in mind, i wasnt putting all of my weight on the shell, just enough to balance myself. I just wanted to know if this was typical for a fiberglass shell (Leer) with no additional support? I know some shells come with additional support, this one doesn't have anything additional underneath. I just don't want to invest the money in a shell to find out the fiberglass is weak or something.

Thanks for any help.

I was lean on my ARE when I first got it to mount roof cross bars, it did the same thing, it held my 100 lbs kayaks but honestly I never fully trusted it like I do my reinforced aluminium one

Default Question regarding camper shell

If you want sturdy, go with aluminum. I have a 48” tradesman on the back of my pickup and it is just as lightweight as any fiberglass one I’ve seen. We did a 10k mile road trip with mine and the biggest worry you have with a canopy is how much you care about waterproofing it.

If you'd update your location to a real place, someone might come forward to offer you a shell you like.
