Default Inexpensive rear bumper for 98 with tow hitch?

As part of getting my 98 XLT to pass inspection this year, i have to replace the rear bumper. I ordered the Fey Diamond Step and adapter kit from Amazon, but they neglected to mention that this model does not fit trucks with the factory hitch option, which mine has. The Westin site does mention this. Talked to them and they do not make a bumper to fit my vehicle.

JC Whitney offers one they say fits, but at $350 it is more than I am hoping to pay (on top of the rest of the work I had to have done) since the truck has about 250K on it and likely won't be around for too much longer.

Does anyone have a source for a cheaper rear bumper for this configuration?

Thanks!

Mark, you failed to mention whether you have a flareside or styleside bed. That makes a big difference in rear bumper options. That being said, if you have a STYLESIDE bed, look on eBay. If you have a FLARESIDE bed, well, good luck... those are hard to come by.

Thanks, Mhoward. I do have the styleside. I ended up taking the bumper to a guy who is going to modify it for me and create spacers that will allow me to mount it to the hitch. It is still costing me more than I would like, but at least it isn't as much as the OEM bumper.

Glad to hear you have a solution, even if it costs you more dollars!
