Ok I'm looking to put on my front bumper/ valance. I ordered brackets for the newer style valance. Anyone have a diagram of the front so I can get hardware and mount it properly?

So I finally was able to find a salvageable truck to get parts from. So, my thoughts, you can if you need to, reuse your 98-00 air damn piece. You just need to cut off the bottom corners and the lip on the bottom front of it also. The corners keep it from fitting on the header panel and the lip keeps the grille from being bolted on. Other than that its basically the same thing. Also be careful with the grille frame when your taking it off or putting in back on the header panel it looked as if it can break pretty easily with too much force in the wrong areas.

I ran out of daylight and it started raining so I gave up looking for the flasher relay. Looked all under the dash for it. I'm going to go out tomorrow and take the panels off below the steering column to get a easier view. I searched around and some people said its in the fuse box that's under the
dash but its not there and other threads show it to be a blue relay or plugged into a some kind yellow socket. Didn't see either of those. Tomorrow is another day though.

So if your like me and had trouble finding the flasher relay or for someone who's searching for it later here you go.

I ended up having to take off the plastic and metal panel below the steering column to get to it. I couldn't find it because the box for the alarm in my truck was in the way. But on my 99 it was directly above the OBDII port. And mine was yellow although from the searching I did some can be blue.

Finally did mine. have had the parts since march after some chick backed into me at taco bell. Paid for the whole front end, tails, new sideview mirrors, steering rack, ps pump with lines, and radiator with the $1100 insurance money with plenty left over.

Put on the 03 chrome xlt front bumper and 06 tails back in march. Don't know why I waited so long to finish it. Kinda liked the look I guess.

Painted grille surround with factory rattle can match from automotivetouchup.com...pretty close imo

Also did new front brakes again since my rotors decide to warp every year.

only issues I ran into was a header panel bolt snapped off so I had to drill and tap that and I had to mod the 06 corners to fit my old bulb holders. Used the ep27 flasher and works like a champ. Pretty easy all around.

btw I gotta an extra header panel for 01-03 with a corner cracked off. could prob repair or just run a self tapper next to it. free to anyone in Pittsburgh area that wants to pick it up

after the accident

new bumper

new tails

why not a new steering rack???

mid bumper and steering rack change

tail swap

and this is how she sat from march till now

new front end

grill painted

finally decided to do front end, grill gone

turns/corners gone

old header panel, gone

tired old front end with 280,000 miles on it....def gonna hang it on my wall

started to rain, in the garage, header panel and lights mounted

and finished product

I tossed around the idea of a honeycomb for a while, but I wanted to keep the chrome look and didn't like the gap between the honeycomb grille and hood. Not ever gonna upgrade the hood. Sport trac is my dads. Its an 01 with 90k on it. Really clean. My sister has a 01 explorer sport. Picked out both for them.

Default Re: Front End Swap guide 1998-2000

So I really want to do the swapping out of my grille/headlights from the 2000 look to the 2003 with the honeycomb grille. I have a couple of questions though. I am reading that after the swap is over, there will be a gap between the hood and the grille. I also read earlier in this thread that there will be a gap under the grille between the grille and bumper.

Thing is, I don't want to buy the kit listed above from ebay and install it if it's not going to turn out looking right and fits like a stock 03.

Any advice?

Thanks!
