TRS Acme Projectors
Looking at the Acme Super H1 projector from TRS. Anyone have any experience with these or know of somebody that has?
I know, I know these are not as good as the latest and greatest Morimotos out there, but this is my first retrofit and I am NOT looking to plunk a ton of bucks into it. In my research, these are much better then the cheap Amazon/eBay stuff out there for not much more. These are actually old Morimoto tech from a few years back. So just curious if anyone has any hands on with these.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: TRS Acme Projectors
Acme Super H1 are just re-branded/ old stock of the Morimoto 6.0's. For the price they are a good deal for anyone looking to do a first time retrofit with out breaking the bank.

Re: TRS Acme Projectors
Just try not to go too high on the bulb color temp. 6k is too high. 4300 to 5k is pretty much optimal. That is a not quite as blue as the 6k, and actually has more light in the visible spectrum. In your other thread you were wondering if these will fit in your housings. They are actually shorted (139mm) vs the FX-R;s (155) I have in mine. They will fit in the housing fine. Clearance behind is tight yes, but it should be workable.

Thank you very much. I appreciate hearing from someone that has done this before. Are you saying these will fit in the housing? I am not questioning your wisdom as I am just going by internet info. The TRS web site says these need 115mm minimum of housing depth and I measured 101 mm as best I could with that little reflector in the way. I didn't want to break it off quite yet.
Thank you for the advice on color temp. I am thinking 4300K or 5000K max. My goal in doing this is more visible light on the road and mimic OEM in both looks and performance. I hate being blinded by incorrect HID installs and would never do it to others.

Re: TRS Acme Projectors
Your best bet for getting and idea if cutting is going to be needed is to remove a housing, pull the bulb out and stick a tape measure inside. Measure from the bulb mating surface to the lens of the housing. Those acme projectors are 136mm end to end. Figure probably 110-120 mm of which will protrude into the housing. That means you'll need a good 4.8" of room for them to fit without cutting.
As for color, I recommend as close to 4300k as you can get. Thats what I run in my ranger and what I ran in me F150 when I had HID projectors in it. To me you seem to get the best usable light out of 4300k.

Thank, I did measure and it comes out to around 4". Hard to tell precisely because that little reflector thingy is in the way for a straight measure. Best I can tell from TRS web site, the projector I ordered needs 115mm of depth and I have around 100mm so cutting may be in my future. I will just be patient until the new housings come in and I can take them apart and go from there. I like to try and have everything figgered out ahead of time, but sometimes you just need to improvise as you go along.

Re: TRS Acme Projectors
I know that feeling. I didn't quiet realize how big the FXR projectors I used were. I had to cut a large portion of the housing out to fit them.

If you got the FXR projectors to fit and make work there is hope for me using the mini.
I shall overcome, when the parts come it, that is. I am sick of not seeing well driving at night.

Like I told you here, I have the FX-R's in mine.
I put the Matchbox 2.0's in my fog lights. 110mm depth. Pretty sure the ones you are talking about will fit just fine. The 136 that TRS shows for the ones you are looking at is not all inside the housing. That measurement is all the way out to the complete end of the unit...

Thanx, yeah, I'm pretty confident everything will work out fine. I was surprised to hear the Matchbox is bixenon. Did you hook up high and low beam in your fog lamps. I have never seen hi and low beam in fog lamps ever. LOL.

They automatically turn off when you hit the high beam. There is a fix for it, so that they will stay on with high beams, then you just wire the cut off solenoids to the same trigger and you get all four lights on high. I have just been too lazy, have not done the mod yet.

Re: TRS Acme Projectors
I did the morimoto mini d2s 2.0's back in 2012ish on my ranger. Been going strong since. I would really like to use their newer 4.0's that they have as they look awesome, but they are bigger projectors and it's already tight as it is with what I have now.
I think you'd be happy with the v6 H1's. They are solid.
